Hey friends and fam! Sorry it's been so long since our last blog but I've been a busy bee with the new job which I'm happy to say is going well! :) I have to admit I was nervous going into it...knowing notta about the medical field was intimidating! But now I'm more excited than anything. The hospital I'm working for was named the 3rd best company to work for in the state of NH last year. Everyone has been more than welcoming and there's so much room for opportunity and growth. The company has a tuition reimbursement program which is huge! I feel very fortunate getting my foot in this door and onto a path towards a substantial career. Having said all that... training kinda sucks! I've been training graveyard shifts 7pm-7am. Up and working while the rest of the world is nice & cozy snuggled in their beds is weird. But working 12hr shifts - 2 or 3 days on then 2 or 3 days off def has it's advantages! St. Josephs Hospital
A couple weeks ago we made our way up to the White Mountains. Man, is it gorgeous up there?! We went to the Franconia Notch State Park, hiked the Flume Gorge and took a tram up Cannon Mountain. It was such a neat day. The Flume is a natural gorge extending 800 feet at the base of Mount Liberty which was def the highlight! One of the most stunning natural wonders... we were in complete awe! Cannon Mountain is a 4100 ft. peak ...they say you can see the mountains of 4 states (NH, ME, VT and NY) and Canada from the top on a good day. It was a bit hazy out so we couldn't quite see all that but it was still breathtakingly beautiful!
Here we go...
What we declared the Old man of the Mountain. (hehe)
Muscles!
Cheese!
Run Joshua run
No, it's not from Beetlejuice! :-P
Making our way into the Gorge...
Wow. Breathtaking!
Greeeeeeen!!!!!!!!!!!

Headed up Cannon Mountain...
Peace out.
Gettin' higher and higher...
View from the top! :)
The trail was full of Christmas trees! Very festive.
Joshua scaring the crap out of me! :-P
An ice cold Blue moon at 4100 feet never tasted so good!
Cheers! :)
We had a great day!
Joshua celebrated his 32nd Birthday! (He's still in such denial that he's actually in his 30's :-P) I asked what he wanted to do for his Big day and all he wanted was for me to cook up his fav foods so that I did! His mama always made his meal of choice for his special day but being we're on the other side of the country now I'll have to carry on this tradition. I made her Beef Stroganoff.... he said it was pretty darn close to the original! Yay! Hope he wasn't just being nice... ;) His fam sent their gifts in the mail and he was so cute... wouldn't open them until the day of!
Opening my presents... we just discovered It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I don't think I've ever heard him laugh so hard... so I bought him the first 2 seasons and the Xmas Special. He loved it!
I made him pile on his gifts for a picture... hehehe
Dinner! Beef Stroganoff and French Onion Soup. Mmm, mmm.
He approves. :)
Happy Birthday to you! For Dessert he wanted Banana pudding. So Banana Pudding it was!
One of his pre B-day meals. Marinated Balsamic London Broil, Crab Stuffed Mushrooms and a Pepper & Tomato Bruschetta.
My back itched. Guess I should have looked to see if it had a cap... :-P
More food! We've been DYING for some good Mexican food but those three words don't exist in New England. So we realized early on we're going to have to learn to make our own! Joshua made us Carne Asada Fries one night. They don't have skirt steak here though... they have something called Steak Tips which is huge and we don't quite understand what the heck it is yet but it made for some decent Carne Asada Fries! :-D
I received my new social in the mail! I'm officially a Sims. :) Now, I just have to change my drivers license, bank account, bills, passport, etc. What a process but I'm stoked to finally get rid of the last name nobody can pronounce once and for all! Sorry dad. :-P
A girlfriend of mine told me my blog made her hungry! hehe :) Well we do love to eat! She suggested I add recipes to the blog and I loved the idea. I'm always experimenting in the kitchen and thought this would be way fun. So be on the lookout for new Shawna recipes! I'll post a new one periodically in the sidebar. Hope you enjoy! My Bruschetta is posted now.
After receiving my 1st paycheck (Sha-wing!) we went out for a celebratory dinner... here's Joshua playing with his rock lobsta! ;)
The leaves are starting to change and Fall is in the air! Yay! My fav time of year! Time to break out all the decor. Happy Fall Everyone! :)
Taken from my camera phone so not great pics but was loving this view on my drive home from work. It was raining and Fall's peaking through... <3
Leaves are changin'... :)
